Bio
I am a designer with a clean, organized aesthetic who’s past work history includes working as a Creative Director & Account Manager at a local creative services firm. By day, I now work as a Client Relations Coordinator in the University of Manitoba’s Marketing Communications Office. By night and by weekend, I focus on fine art photography which is my main creative outlet. Whether self-portraits, landscapes or everyday objects, I aim to create unusual, engaging imagery that resonates with mind, heart and soul. I bring my design sensibilities and conceptual thinking into all of my photography.
I am a CGD Certified Member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada and am currently volunteering on the Manitoba Chapter Executive.
I grew up on a farm in southwestern Manitoba, but moved to Winnipeg for high school and have lived in the city ever since. As a result, I have a love for wandering through wide open spaces, hiking through trees and wading through rivers. But at the same time, I love the vibrancy and creative energy that Winnipeg and other cities have to offer, and I like exploring them and discovering new places.
My favorite summer event is the Winnipeg Folk Festival and I go every year. Listening to music outside while hanging out on the grass with friends is probably one of my greatest pleasures. What else? I love to smile and I’m big on hugging people – I do both a lot. Also, bakeries and cafes are my favorite places to hang out, especially if there is tea involved.
For those who want to know, my official name is Karen, but my family has always called me Karenia (pronounced care-uh-knee-a)… so I go by both.
