In the interests of getting ready for my trip to New Zealand and Australia, I’m taking a break from my The Daily Photo project. I see this project as an ongoing one, so I’ll revisit it again when I need a photographic boost. In this first round, I made it to 54 days.
These are my top nine favourites of Days 1-54:
My sister and I went home to visit our family this weekend. I say the same thing every time, but it was so lovely to be out in the country and to have time to visit and relax. Elaine and I were feeling very thankful for each other… both so happy that we have a mutual love for photography and for wandering off the beaten path. The highlights of the weekend were the northern lights and star photography, trudging through the snow in the Cypress River valley and eating soup, sandwiches and pie in the community hall.
My sister Elaine and I went for a lovely long walk down The Forks river trail. Next time I plan to go back with skates, but for this time, it was nice to walk. We didn’t make it down the Assiniboine River leg, but we did do most of the Red River leg, stopping along the way to check out the warming huts. It was so sunny and beautiful out today — a little windy at times, but nothing we couldn’t deal with. I’m so thankful to have this yearly skating and walking path created in our city.
In an effort to use my SLR camera on a regular basis, and get used to my new lens, I’ve started a new photography project called The Daily Photo. I’m not sure how long it will go on… perhaps one month, perhaps a whole year. However my goal is to improve my photography skills, and get into a creative head space again. I’ve noticed over the last couple of years that while my technical skills are improving, my conceptual photos are getting few and far between. So my hope is that I’ll see some improvement over the next while.
