My sister Elaine, our friend Laurie and I were pleased to have our Perspectives gallery show and sale at the Tiger Hills Arts Association gallery in Holland, Manitoba during the month of May, 2015. The building is a work of art in itself… full of character with its wood floor and framing and best of all, its intricate ceiling. In addition to housing different gallery shows each month, the space is home to a gift boutique… which means interesting things of all kinds for visitors to view and browse through.
Laurie McPherson, Karenia Niedzwiecki and Elaine O’Keeffe are three women who share common roots and a passion for visual imagery. Perspectives is a collection of fine art photography that reflects their unique view of their varied surroundings. The show and sale includes images ranging from locations in southwestern Manitoba and western Canada to as far away as Australia, Belgium, France, Italy and New Zealand.
It’s a little over a month since Elaine and I’s gallery show ended, and I thought it was about time I wrote a recap. Based on our guest book, it looks like we had approximately 200 visitors over the month that the show was up. This is just a sampling, but they came from Holland, Carman, Minnedosa, Cypress River, Winnipeg, Brandon, La Riviere, Starbuck, Glenboro, Treherne, St. Alphonse, Mariapolis… and as far away as Minneapolis, MN.
I am happy to say that after a busy week Elaine and I are ready for our August gallery show. We are really excited to see/hear the response to our The Country In Us collection! If you would like to attend, here is the info. Thanks to the Tiger Hills Arts Association for booking us… it is a special opportunity to show our photos near our first home.
This week, more gallery show work. Our deadline to get our photos off to print is coming up fast, and Elaine and I are working hard to finalize the size and placement of all our images. In addition, I’ve designed an Artist’s Statement & Bio poster and a label template for our images. Ideally all of the major work needs to be wrapped up in the next week or so (eek!). I’m feeling the stress a bit, and wondering why we thought it was a good idea to have a gallery show in the summer! It is just so tempting to be outside instead of stuck in front of the computer. Still having fun though.
I am pleased to officially announce that my sister Elaine and I are having a photography show and sale for the entire month of August! If you should find yourself driving down the #2 Highway, and are about to pass Holland, MB, take a driving break and pop in to the Tiger Hills Arts Association gallery to see our show.
The theme for our gallery show is The Country In Us. Visitors can expect to see a collection of fine art photography, depicting images of home and the bits of country that we’ve discovered in other places. Elaine and I have a strong connection to the Tiger Hills area of Manitoba and find peace, restoration and beauty there. We especially enjoy introducing and sharing the area with friends… so if our gallery show gives you a reason to take a drive out to the country, we’d think that is pretty awesome.
For the month of August, the gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm. Saturday to Monday, by appointment only.
